Announcing the New ‘Together, We Play’ Contest in Support of Patient Care

We are pleased to announce an exciting new contest offering people the chance to win $10,000 cash, as well as other prizes – and it’s free to play!

Contest players will search an online game‐board to find all the clues to spell ‘LOCAL HEROES’. New clues will be revealed monthly starting March 1 through to September at www.togetherweplay.com.

Contestants must find all clues to complete an entry form for the chance to win a grand prize of $10,000 cash and approximately 100 other prizes.

Entry forms are only available at participating sponsor locations.

There is no fee to enter the contest. Chances to win will depend on the number of qualified entries received by the contest close date of September 24, 2010. Only one entry per person. BDO Canada LLP of Strathroy will supervise the draw, scheduled for the end of October, 2010.

“This is a truly unique and exciting way for people to get involved in health care. It’s a fun game and where else do you have a chance to win $10,000 cash and prizes for free,” says Susan McLean, SMGH Foundation CEO.

This year, the ‘LOCAL HEROES’ include historical healthcare leaders Dorothy Doan and Grace Anderson. Miss Doan was the first woman in Canada to join the Association of Hospital Administrators after completing her fellowship in Hospital Organizational Management, leading Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital for twenty‐five years.

She was honoured nationally as an outstanding nurse and Canadian citizen when awarded the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal.

The contest also features Grace Anderson; Mrs. Anderson served as Director of Nursing and acted as Assistant Administrator at the Four Counties Health Services for 22 years. Her nursing skills and compassion for her patients provided an important link between medical staff and patient care.

Major sponsors for ‘Together, We Play’ include Town & Country Mutual Insurance and McNaughton’s in Newbury. Both sponsors believe that the game will raise community awareness and funds for local healthcare.

Businesses who wish to participate can buy squares to have their logo included on the game‐board. It’s an all‐round win: customers play for free, and have the chance to win while participating companies receive increased traffic and recognition as a great corporate citizen.

Funds raised will help purchase new anaesethia equipment for Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, and new colonoscopy equipment for Four Counties Health Services.

The new ‘Together, We Play’ contest is just one of 5 new fundraising initiatives that are part of a program called ‘Together, We Will’. The balance of activities will be launched throughout 2010 to help raise awareness and financial support with more details available at www.smghfoundation.com.

“We understand that the impact of the economic downturn in our region has been difficult. This program has been designed as a way to offer individuals, businesses and organizations several affordable ways to continue support for their hospitals.” says McLean.

Businesses interested in participating can call SMGH Foundation 519‐246‐5906.
