It's About Time! - CT Scanner Campaign

The Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation is currently raising $2.5 million dollars to purchase a CT Scanner in order to provide excellent diagnostic imaging services, medical treatment and patient care for you and your family.

It’s about time patients of the Middlesex Hospital Alliance had the same access to CT scans as patients in other parts of Ontario.

A CT scanner will provide state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging services for patients. Some of the benefits include:

• physicians can quickly obtain information required to diagnose       disease and life threatening illnesses

• reduced wait times for CT scan (currently patients from our area  wait anywhere from 8 to 20 weeks in other regional hospitals for a CT scan)

• better access to care for more than 80,000 residents in Middlesex, Lambton, Elgin and Kent counties

• new physicians and surgeons will be attracted to the Hospital     because of the accessibility to CT

• very patient friendly technology with faster scans to help reduce   patient stress and anxiety

CT scans are a tremendous asset in the diagnosis of serious illnesses and injuries including:

• cardiovascular disease

• stroke

• chest pain

• many types of cancer, including cancer of the lungs, pancreas,     liver, kidneys and brain

• injuries and diseases of the abdominal organs

• internal bleeding, brain damage and skull fractures in patients with  head injuriesblood clots or bleeding within the brain shortly after      a patient exhibits symptoms of stroke

It is estimated that at least 4,300 scans will be run yearly with demand increasing in subsequent years.
