Here
is an excerpt from Lorna Campbell's remarks:
I
want to thank you for the most important, compassionate work that
you all do. It amazes me that so many people of different faith,
spirituality, and beliefs can come together, so willing to help
support our hospital which serves those who are sick and in need
of care.
Just
as the foundation works to inspire giving to sustain Strathroy Middlesex
General as a vibrant community hospital, your efforts foster an
amazing spirit among all of those who use and rely upon this hospital.
When a patient faces a life threatening situation and needs spiritual
healing, you play a tremendous role. You provide hope, are a source
of faith and inspiration to others.
Many
grateful patients and relatives of patients in hospital have remarked
how they are impressed with pastoral and compassionate care that
Strathroy Hospital is known for.
Knowing
this high level of satisfaction in the role that you play in others
lives must be very gratifying. Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital
is indeed fortunate to enjoy a remarkable friendship with each of
you and with our community.
Today
we are honouring you for your great work to help raise funds during
the building together campaign. A campaign which expanded the hospital
by over 22 thousand square feet, and included an internal renovation
of another 23 thousand feet. This renovation and expansion has provided
our community with additional space for new services including an
enhanced endoscopy, audiology, pulmonary function and pain clinics,
along with new facilities for pre admissions.
The
emergency room and surgical suites were also re-designed with enough
space to comfortably serve patients with the most modern, advanced
equipment.
Today
is marked with a sincere and special thank you and the unveiling
of a permanent honour to the local churches, Pastoral Care Committee
and Ministerial Association to showcase your long standing dedication
and support for the hospital both generous and impressive.
This
special recognition expresses how important spirituality and volunteerism
is - and continues to be - to Strathroy Hospital. The $7.5 million
goal of the campaign could not have been reached without your support
and is a tremendous accomplishment.
Right
now, I look at you and I think of the hours you have worked; how
you have made sacrifices in your personal lives in order to spend
your personal time helping people in our community through a wide
variety of activities.
If
it weren't for you, we literally couldn't accomplish all that we
have. But with your help, the Foundation will not only continue
to make progress in enhancing and improving local healthcare, we
will keep moving forward with confidence, and do it in a way that
best responds to growing patient care needs.
Thank
you for your support.
