Middlesex
Power Donates $25,000 to MHA CT scanner
Strathroy
Hospital Foundation received a $25,000 gift - a donation from Middlesex
Power Distribution Corporation (MPDC) that will certainly move the
CT scanner campaign closer to its goal of $2.5 million.
"Middlesex
Power's commitment is fantastic news for the campaign. At this point
we are just under $500,000 away from reaching our goal," said
Susan McLEan, CEO SMGH Foundation, who was present to accept the
gift.

McLean
went on to say that “the Foundation is very pleased and honoured
to be the recipient of the largest donation Middlesex Power has
ever made in our area.”
Since
May 2007, well over 2000 patients from Middlesex, Lambton, Chatham-Kent
and Elgin counties have been scanned. Some patients travel or are
referred from as far away as Huron County for scans.
“This
technology is really changing patient care in our region,” says
Mike Mazza, CEO Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA). “For many patients,
their doctors are employing CT scans as tools to more precisely
prescribe treatments, therapies, and surgery.”
A
CT scanner is a powerful imaging tool that precisely examines the
body and cellular functions, enabling physicians to make improved
diagnosis and treatment for patients who suffer from stroke, trauma,
cancer, and other life-threatening disease or illness.
“Middlesex
Power has a strong desire and the ability to help address some of
the serious issues the region is facing,” said Middlesex Power's
Strathroy Office Manager Ana Couto.
“By
helping to improve access to healthcare by donating to the CT scanner
campaign, we are helping the communities we serve in a truly sustainable
way.”
"Strathroy
Hospital is an important part of the community and Middlesex Power
is pleased to support the foundation by donating $25,000 to assist
in important initiatives like the CT scanner," said Dave Kenney,
President, MPDC.
Kenney
attributes the donation to the commitment of Middlesex Power's hard
working and dedicated staff.
“Without
our excellent staff, Middlesex Power would not be as successful.
We would like to share our success with the community by giving
back and supporting such an important healthcare project,” said
Kenney.
In
July 2005 Chatham-Kent Energy purchased Middlesex Power from the
Municipality of Strathroy Caradoc. Chatham-Kent Energy also owns
Chatham-Kent Hydro who combined with Middlesex Power, own and operate
the electricity distribution systems in the communities of Blenheim,
Bothwell, Chatham , Dresden , Erieau, Merlin, Mt. Brydges , Parkhill,
Ridgetown, Strathroy, Thamesville, Tilbury, Wallaceburg and Wheatley.
