“When he was in his 40s, my father had an accident. That led to his becoming a regular patient at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. Every year, it seemed, he spent time in hospital.
“He just raved about the care he got there, especially from the nurses. They’re the ones who provide the day-to-day care; the ones you have the most contact with. ‘If I can’t be at home,’ he told us, ‘this is the place I want to be.’
“It meant so much to us, seeing the nurses treat my dad with so much compassion and respect. Each time, they made a difficult situation much better.”
