CommonWealth Financial to Light the Way for Patients and Families This Giving Tuesday

ree

Patients and visitors arriving at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH) on Giving Tuesday will be greeted with an act of generosity made possible by CommonWealth Financial.

Members of the CommonWealth Financial team will be onsite early that morning, personally handing out the 500 free parking tickets to patients and visitors as they arrive.

This thoughtful gift is expected to ease the burden for those coming to the hospital for appointments, emergencies, and to visit loved ones—especially during a time of year when every bit of support matters.

“Giving Tuesday is a powerful reminder of what it means to lift up your community,” said Michelle Hancock, CEO of the SMGH Foundation. “CommonWealth Financial’s generosity reflects the very heart of our Season to Shine campaign. Their support will brighten the day for hundreds of families and demonstrates the impact of caring partners who stand behind local healthcare.”

The free parking initiative will complement the Foundation’s Season to Shine campaign—an effort to raise $250,000 to support the hospital’s highest-priority needs. As donations grow, the Foundation will light 18 trees across the hospital grounds, each one symbolizing approximately $14,000 in community support.

CommonWealth Financial has been a long-standing friend of SMGH, and this Giving Tuesday gesture underscores their ongoing commitment to ensuring that compassionate care remains close to home for the people of Strathroy-Caradoc and surrounding communities.

"Supporting local healthcare means supporting our neighbours,” said Stephanie Sanders from CommonWealth Financial. “We’re proud to give back in a way that helps make people’s day a little easier and shines a light on the incredible work happening at SMGH.”

The Foundation invites the community to join the celebration at the Season to Shine Lighting Ceremony on December 2 at 6:30 p.m. on the front grounds of SMGH, followed by complimentary mini cupcakes and hot chocolate in the auditorium.
