In the announcement of the Canada Post strike, we were reminded of the challenges this situation created for our Foundation last year.
At that time, donations in support of the Hospital were dramatically impacted.
Your generosity is vital to ensuring patients at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital receive the best possible care, and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to continue giving. Here's what you need to know about donating during the Canada Post strike.
There are many ways to make your gift:
Online through our secure donation page
By phone at 519-246-5906
In person at the Foundation Office (395 Carrie St. Strathroy, ON)

When the Foundation Office is open, you’re always welcome to stop by in person to make your donation. If you arrive outside of office hours, you can safely deposit cheques in our locked and secure dropbox, located directly under the Hours of Operation sign on our office door (across from the Donor Wall in the hospital’s main corridor). This ensures your support reaches us quickly and securely, even during the postal strike.
MORE WAYS TO MAKE AN IMPACT. There are many ways to give beyond a one-time gift. You can choose monthly donations, tribute gifts, corporate support, or fundraising events. You might also consider Gifts of Securities or Legacy Giving—two powerful ways to create lasting impact for patient care at SMGH.
When you give online, your donation will be acknowledged immediately, and your charitable tax receipt will follow by email within 48 hours. If you do not receive your receipt, please check your junk email folder—or contact us at info@smghfoundation.com or 519-246-5906, and we’ll be happy to assist.
We also recognize that not everyone has access to a printer or may need extra support to receive their charitable tax receipt. If this is the case, please call us and we will work with you to find a custom solution that meets your needs.
Staying Connected During the Postal Strike
We will also continue to provide updates by email throughout the postal strike. This means that instead of receiving mailed appeals, you’ll hear from us directly in your inbox.
These emails will include donor appeals with stories that highlight the impact of your support, donor reports showcasing projects and equipment funded through your generosity, and updates about Foundation events and activities.
Together, these updates will demonstrate how your giving makes a tangible difference in the lives of patients and families in our community.
In particular, we recognize how important it is for families who have requested memorial and tribute gifts to be kept informed. We will ensure that these families continue to receive timely updates and acknowledgments by email, so they know how their loved one’s legacy is being honoured through care at our Hospital.
Every donation—large or small—helps transform care. From diagnostic imaging that saves precious time in emergencies, to equipment that improves comfort and safety for patients, your giving has a lasting impact on the lives of families, friends, and neighbours.
We are deeply grateful for your continued support, especially during times of uncertainty. By choosing to give online, by phone, or in person, you help us keep care strong and accessible for everyone who walks through our hospital doors.
Together, we can ensure that the needs of our hospital—and the people it serves—are never put on hold. Thank you for being part of this vital work.
